This is a male Superb fairy-wren painted on a pine wood slice.
Native to Australia the superb fairy-wren is found in south eastern areas of the country. Usually seen in small social groups that normally consist of one dominant male and several females and young birds. I think his blue feathers are a pretty combination painted on the natural wood.
Fitted with a hanger on the back, it’s ready to hang on your wall.
Approximately 20cm round (1.8cm thick).
About the wood: The wood is cut from young invasive pine species in Victoria to make way for Australian native trees. Before painting the bird I have sealed the wood on all sides (including the edges) and then coated the acrylic painting with varnish to protect it.
Price includes postage within Australia.
