Native to Australia the Willie Wagtail is the largest and most well-known of the Australian fantail. The name wagtail stems from the constant sideways wagging of the tail. Widespread across Australia they are an entertaining little bird to watch and one that a lot of people will be familiar with. I love the expression that the white “eyebrows” give them.
Fitted with a hanger on the back, it’s ready to hang on your wall.
Approximately 20cm round (1.8cm thick).
About the wood: The wood is cut from young invasive pine species in Victoria to make way for Australian native trees. Before painting the bird I have sealed the wood on all sides (including the edges) and then coated the acrylic painting with varnish to protect it.
